Our Accident and Emergency Department provides immediate access to patients and is run by Consultants.

The A&E service operates 7 days a week from 10am to 7pm Daily
Every patient will be provided with:
• Immediate access to a Consultant’s opinion
• Same day investigations
• Immediate management plan
• Prompt discharge letter
HOW DO I ACCESS THE ACCIDENT AND EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT?
1. Walk-in with out making an appointment between 10am and 7pm.
2. Phone-in so we can schedule your appointment and plan your treatment in advance. Please call:

3. GP Referral – Contact your GP and your GP will contact us and we will then call you to make your appointment.
WHICH PATIENTS CAN BE SEEN?
Patients who need the following services:
General Surgery, Medical, Urology and Orthopaedic patients can be seen, as well as:
• Acute and sub acute trauma
• Acute and sub acute muscloscetal conditions
• Sports injuries
• Abdominal pain
• Soft tissue infections
• Suspected Deep Vein Thrombosis
This list is not all inclusive.
WHAT CAN PATIENTS EXPECT WHEN THEY ARRIVE?
After initial assessment by a nurse the patient will be seen and examined by a Consultant. A management plan will be formulated and any necessary Laboratory or radiological investigations will be performed.
WHAT IF THE PATIENT REQUIRES ADMISSION?
When a patient requires admission to hospital, the patient will be admitted under the care of a Consultant Specialist appropriate to their condition. In the unlikely event that there is not an appropriate Specialist within the Galway Clinic, the patient will be transferred to the care of the appropriate Specialist at another facility.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
All patients will be charged a consultation fee of €100
*The above quoted charge does not include any necessary additional Laboratory or Radiology tests which will be charged accordingly.
The A&E fee and associated charges are recoverable through your out-patient excess, as well as through the MED 1 Form. You can download this form from:

Details of fees for the appropriate Laboratory, Radiology or other tests deemed necessary by the Consultant are available at the A&E reception desk.
Should admission be required, your admission will be covered by your insurance in the usual way.
