The Galway Clinic opened its doors in June 2004. The Hospital represented the single largest independent investment in the history of the state. The Galway Clinic was developed to provide the people of the west of Ireland access to the best possible medical care. One of the main motivations behind the Galway Clinic was to improve cancer care services in the west of Ireland. The Galway Clinic proudly introduced the following technologies to the west of Ireland:
  1. Radiotherapy
  2. Open Heart Surgery
  3. PET/CT imaging
  4. Robotic assisted surgery
  5. Eye Laser Surgery

The Galway Clinic is a 126 bed hospital with  36 consultant suites. The Hospital  consists of the following clinical departments:

By providing greater access to acute and secondary care services, minimising waiting lists in the regions, and creating an environment that will serve to both attract and retain the highest calibre of health care personnel, the Galway Clinic will dramatically improve and support the overall health care in the West of Ireland. Significant investment has been committed to provide the region with a facility which combines state of the art technology with a high level of visual design to advance medical treatment in Ireland.
