Freyer Unit

Freyer Unit is the Orthopaedic Unit in the Galway Clinic. It is situated on the lower ground level. The unit consists of 31 beds. The majority of patients on Freyer Unit are admitted for elective Orthopaedic Surgery.

About the Unit


The majority of patients on Freyer Unit are admitted for elective Orthopaedic Surgery. Physiotherapy services are provided for all patients who require this service.

The most common surgical procedures performed are:

Total Hip Replacement and Total Knee Replacements.

Anterior Cruciate Ligament Repairs.

Arthroscopies of Joints.

Shoulder replacements and Rotator Cuff Repairs.

Correction of bone deformities.

Spinal Surgery- Microdiscectomys, Decompressions, Laminotomies.

Investigations of bone/joint pain.
