Each member of staff on the ward will contribute to the patient’s care and well-being, utilising a team approach. It is our responsibility to assist the patient with activities of daily living that he/she would carry out independently if they were capable.
It is the aim of the unit to provide the optimum standard of individualised care, and to ensure patient safety and well being at all times. Our main goal is to allay patients’ and their families’ fears and anxieties regarding their procedures through reassurance and explanation. As professionals, each member of the nursing team will abide by the regulations set out by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and will adhere to hospital policies and protocols. We aim to make your hospital experience as comfortable as possible.

Cardiology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS)
Here in the Galway Clinic, we believe that patient support plays a critical role in patient care.
Our cardiology CNS works closely with our Interventional Cardiologists and Cardiac Nurses providing assistance, support, and information to patients as an essential part of their care.
Patients benefit from the dedicated approach of the CNS throughout the duration of their treatment, explaining plan of care, helping with an understanding of medication and clarifying the ins and outs of the prognosis and rehabilitation. The CNS also connects the patients to any other member of the multidisciplinary team.
Our Cardiology CNS offers post-discharge support for patients to help with queries with regarding symptoms or medication.
Delivery of evidence-based expert care, provision of clinical leadership and implementation of educational development for Staff Nurses is pivotal to the role of the CNS.
