Galway Clinic Emergency Room
Phased opening from the 1st of July 2020. Monday– Friday 10 am – 6 pm
The Galway Clinic is re-opening the Emergency Room service on 1st July 2020 on a phased basis. The Emergency Room service will open Monday - Friday from 10 am to 6 pm.
The initial phase will be on a scheduled appointment basis only. The appointment will be scheduled upon receiving a referral from your GP to the ER Consultant.
The Galway Clinic is a designated COVID-19-free hospital. If a patient requires admission and tests positive for COVID-19, the patient may be transferred to GUH which is a COVID-19 receiving hospital.
Access To The Emergency Room
All patients will require a confirmed appointment in the ER before arrival.
The prerequisites for being offered an appointment are:
A written GP letter/fax received ahead of the patient's arrival.
Successful COVID-19 screening by questionnaire and temperature screening on arrival.
Confirmation of scheduled appointment.
GP letters must be sent ahead of the patient to edreception@galwayclinic.com or faxed to 091 785730.
Please note the following - we are unable to accept and treat:
Suspected COVID-19, regardless of presenting complaint. Patients with respiratory symptoms will require an assessment before confirmation of an appointment to exclude symptoms suggestive of COVID-19.
Acute, evolving cerebrovascular accidents(Stroke), with symptom onset under 12-hours; these patients best care for in hospitals with an established Stroke pathway.
Children under the age of 5 years with any complaint. The ER will see minor injuries for children only between the ages of 5-16 years.
