Dr. Joseph Martin is a Consultant Radiation Oncologist, with a special interest in the areas of Lymphoma, Breast, Gastrointestinal and Head and Neck cancers.
He was appointed as a consultant to the University Hospital Galway in 2006 and took up rooms in the Galway Clinic shortly thereafter. Prior to this, he completed Fellowships in the British Columbia Cancer Agency and the Princess Margaret Hospitals in Canada, having trained in St. Luke’s Hospital Dublin.
Dr. Martin has served as Chief Examiner for the speciality of Radiation Oncology for the Faculty of Radiologists, RCSI. He has acted as principal investigator for a number of Cancer Trials Ireland studies and sat on the Safety Monitoring Committee of this group.
He currently serves as the National Advisor and Clinical Lead for Radiation Oncology to the National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP). He sits on the Executive of the NCCP, the Board of the National Programme for Radiation Oncology, and the NCCP Guidelines Steering Group. He chairs the Radiation Oncology Working Group for the NCCP.
