Mr Chalikonda V R Prasad completed speciality training in Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery in Ireland. He is conferred with FRCS from The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1992. He was appointed as Trauma & Orthopaedic consultant in Galway University Hospitals from 1998 to 2004. He was also conferred with Fellowship in Sports & Exercise Medicine (FFSEM) in 2003 awarded by faculty of sports and excersice medicine at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland & Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dublin.
Mr Prasad joined the Galway Clinic at its conception in July 2004 and has been in full-time private practice since. His name is entered in the specialist register in the division of Trauma & Orthopaedic surgery regulated by the Medical council (Reg no: 011740).
He routinely performs Lumbar disc operations, hip and knee replacements & bunion surgery. His special area of interest is arthroscopic surgery (key hole surgery) of the shoulder, knee & ankle joints including rotator cuff repairs, shoulder stabilisations and other sports injuries such as torn cartilage, cruciate ligament reconstruction and ankle stabilisations. In addition he has expertise in treatment of stress fractures, overuse disorders, repetetive strain injuries (RSI), work related injuries, enthesitis, neuropathic pain and disability assesment etc.,
