Karl Sweeney has 10 years experience as a consultant breast and general surgeon in Galway and has personally treated over 1000 women with breast cancer.
Mr Sweeney is the lead surgeon for BreastCheck, Western Unit and an honorary Senior Lecturer at NUI Galway. He has previously held the position of Clinical Director of Surgery at Saolta Health Care Group.
He qualified from UCD and obtained his MD thesis at TCD prior to training at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, New York.
Mr Sweeney's specialist interests include breast cancer surgery and immediate breast reconstruction, breast cancer family history, noncancerous breast disease and breast aesthetic/cosmetic surgery.
