In addition to conducting practice at the Galway Clinic, Cathal is the Professor of Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine and a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Sports Surgery Clinic & Trinity College Dublin, as well as an Hon. Professor in Orthopaedic Surgery at RCSI.
Professor Moran is a native of Gort, Co. Galway and a graduate of NUI Galway. He has completed extensive sub-specialist surgical training at Hospital for Special Surgery New York and other internationally renowned institutes across the US and Europe.
Professor Moran has extensive experience of treating professional and recreational athletes and is Director of the National Cartilage Repair Centre as well as a Lead Investigator in international stem cell clinical trials across SSC, TCD, RCSI and related academic centres.
Professor Cathal Moran is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon specialising in the orthopaedic management of sports injuries and soft tissue conditions of the knee and shoulder in patients and athletes of all ages.
Shoulder conditions treated by Professor Moran at the Galway Clinic include shoulder pain, shoulder instability, rotator cuff, AC joint, biceps and labrum injury.
Knee conditions include cartilage and meniscus tears, ACL (cruciate) and knee ligament injury, as well as all causes of knee pain.
Surgery at Galway Clinic is offered on both an overnight and day case basis depending on the patient's condition or injury. Both arthroscopic (keyhole) and open surgical options are performed.
